Everything you need to know about Snackology, Popculturology and The Cold Open.
The Omnicosm covers the things that make life fun. Snacks, pop culture, movies, TV shows and more. It’s the home of Snackology, Popculturology and The Cold Open, newsletters focused on those topics.
The Omnicosm traces its roots back to 2012 with the founding of Popculturology. After a hiatus that began in 2015, Popculturology returned as a newsletter in 2022. Snackology was launched in 2024, with both sites coming together under The Omnicosm in early 2025. The Cold Open joined Popculturology and Snackology as its own vertical in late 2025, spinning out from Popculturology. (The Cold Open began as Deep SNL Thoughts before it was rebranded.)
The Omnicosm’s mission is to bring readers news about their favorite things — whether it’s a new Star Wars movie, thoughts on the latest episode of SNL or a review of the latest culinary innovation at McDonald’s — directly into their inboxes.
Snackology is the home of reviews and news about fast food, candy, soda and more.
Popculturology covers pop culture, including the MCU, Star Wars, SNL and more.
The Cold Open covers SNL, including reviews, news, host promos and extra coverage.
Bill Kuchman is founder and executive editor of The Omnicosm while also serving as editor in chief and author of Snackology, Popculturology and The Cold Open. Bill previously ran Popculturology as a standalone website that covered pop culture on a daily basis. He also wrote for CBS Interactive’s TV.com before that site disappeared. Between those two ventures (and Twitter), he has written about pop culture — Star Wars, the MCU, How I Met Your Mother, SNL — for over a decade. He’s also written about SNL for POLITICO Magazine.
Tim Kuchman is The Omnicosm’s copy editor.

— Dan Diamond, The Washington Post
“A fun and irreverent look at pop culture with a focus on Star Wars, Legos and other nerdy stuff. Highly recommended.”
