Everything you need to know about Popculturology, Snackology and Brain Slop.

HELLO!
Welcome to The Omnicosm, the home of Popculturology, Snackology and Brain Slop. These are free newsletters about pop culture, snacks and random news written by Bill Kuchman. (That’s me.)
WHO AM I?
I once ran a different website called Popculturology. (It covered pop culture.) I also wrote for CBS Interactive’s TV.com before they disappeared. Between those two ventures (and Twitter), I’ve been writing about pop culture — Star Wars, the MCU, How I Met Your Mother, SNL — for over a decade.
In November 2022, I resurrected Popculturology as a newsletter to have a space to share my thoughts on pop culture in a post-Twitter social media world. In 2024, I launched Snackology. And in early 2025, I brought them together under The Omnicosm right before adding Brain Slop.

Popculturology is the flagship publication of The Omnicosm. It was originally launched as a news site in 2012 before going dormant in 2015. It was resurrected as a newsletter in 2022.
The weekly newsletter publishes on Friday and covers all aspects of pop culture: Movies, TV, trailers, box office news, Star Wars, Marvel, Saturday Night Live and more.
Popculturology also published Deep SNL Thoughts after each new episode of SNL, The Box Office Report on Mondays and The Monthly on the final Sunday of each month. Popculturology also publishes the occasion special edition to cover breaking news.

Snackology was launched in 2024. I’ve always enjoyed hunting down and trying new snacks, types of candy and flavors of soda. This newsletter brings that hunt to audience that loves reading about the latest type of Oreo or new kind of Reese’s Cup.
Snackology publishes Thoughts for Food when there’s new finds to share, Classics when an old favorite like the Shamrock Shake returns, Roundup to cover holiday offerings and Ranked! to team up with a friend to break down a specific brand. Snack Chat is a recap of food news that publishes on the last Wednesday of each month.

Brain Slop is the newest publication under The Omnicosm. It was launched in March 2025 to cover news that fit Popculturology’s mission.
Brain Slop publishes each Sunday morning.
WHEN DO I PUBLISH?
Every week, you’ll receive at least two editions of Popculturology.
- The Weekly Newsletter: Publishes on Friday at 7 a.m. ET. This covers all the pop culture news of the week.
- The Box Office Report: Publishes on Monday at 7 a.m. ET. This covers the weekend box office.
Sometimes, you’ll receive an extra edition of Popculturology.
- Deep SNL Thoughts: Publishes the Sunday after a new episode of SNL, hitting your inbox as soon as I can write it.
- The Monthly: Publishes on the last Sunday of each month at 8 a.m. ET. Three things to know. Two trailers to watch. One article to read.
- Special Edition: Sometimes there’s news that just can’t wait until the weekly newsletter. Other times, I publish special features outside of the weekly newsletter.
Snackology’s publishing frequency is dependent on when I make a cool find or track down a limited edition item.
Brain Slop publishes every Sunday at 10 a.m. ET.
READER PRAISE
“For years, I loved being Bill’s coworker because I got to pick his brain on pop culture — everything from analyzing SNL’s guests to explaining Marvel’s strategy. I’m delighted that he’s sharing those insights.”
— Dan Diamond, The Washington Post
“A fun and irreverent look at pop culture with a focus on Star Wars, Legos and other nerdy stuff. Highly recommended.”
— Will Cleveland, The Cleveland Prost
