An unlucky St. Patrick’s Day weekend at the box office
‘Novocaine’ might not be able to feel pain, but none of this weekend’s releases were feeling good.

Hello! Welcome to The Box Office Report for the weekend of March 14-16, 2025.
1. Novocaine
Weekend gross: $8.7M
Total domestic gross: $8.7M
Last weekend: New release
Percent drop: NA
Slow box office weekend, huh?

Not a single release cracked the $10 million mark. The movie in the No. 5 slot didn’t hit $4 million.
The Jack Quaid-starring Novocaine numbly stumbled into the No. 1 spot, keeping Mickey 17 from back-to-back weekend wins.

2. Mickey 17
Weekend gross: $7.51M
Total domestic gross: $33.3M
Last weekend: 1st
Percent drop: 60
That B CinemaScore didn’t bode well for Mickey 17’s box office success after last week’s No. 1 debut. The Bong Joon-ho adaptation fell 60 percent week to week — a drop that people would be freaking out over if this were an MCU movie.
Will Mickey 17 have the box office stamina left to match Parasite’s domestic haul of $53.9 million? That film’s $199.9 million worldwide box office haul absolutely feels out of reach at this point.
